UCD Lyons Farm Team showcase at the 2025 UCD Festival
At the 2025 UCD Festival, UCD Lyons Farm presented an engaging and informative showcase designed to connect the public with the latest developments in agricultural science and technology. The display, developed by academic, research and our farming technical staff, highlighted the farm’s commitment to innovation, sustainability, and education.
Visitors to the showcase were introduced to a range of technologies currently in use at Lyons Farm, including GPS-guided equipment, autonomous tractors, and sensor-based systems for monitoring crop and animal health. A replica milking parlour demonstrated how dairy operations are managed on-site, allowing attendees to see how automation and data-driven processes are integrated into everyday farm practices.
Animal welfare and sustainable farming methods were also a central focus. Attendees had the opportunity to observe sheep, lambs, and poultry, with interactive displays explaining how precision farming tools support animal monitoring and pasture management. Simple, hands-on exhibits such as wand technology for tracking sheep health effectively communicated complex practices in an accessible way.
