This conference arises from a NORFACE-funded seminar series that has assessed the contemporary changes in how the United States thinks about its identity and global role and how this relates to European thinking (www.norface.org). A key consideration throughout has been how this process of reconsidering global roles has impacted our traditional approach to concepts such as The West and the Transatlantic Alliance.
