Fly Higher – UCD and Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Enterprise Week
The Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Enterprise Week is taking place from March 23rd to March 26th. The Enterprise Week will feature twelve individual events, all of which are open to the public, taking place over 4-days in various locations throughout the county of Dún-Laoghaire-Rathdown, including UCD.
The message from the organisers of the Enterprise Week, which includes NovaUCD, is that small businesses can 'still fly higher, even during an economic storm' and the week has been designed to support the ambitions of aspiring entrepreneurs who wish to start a new business and the owners of existing businesses who wish to expand.
As part of Enterprise Week, NovaUCD is hosting an Open Day on Tuesday, March 24th.
The aim of the NovaUCD Open Day is to give budding high-tech entrepreneurs who want to ‘fly higher’ an opportunity to drop-in to NovaUCD and to discover the unique services, supports and facilities available to them.
Sean Gallagher, co-founder and CEO of Smarthomes and a ‘Dragon’ on RTE’s ‘Dragons’ Den’ TV Programme will be the Open Day guest speaker and he will deliver a NovaUCD ‘Entrepreneurs Live’! Seminar. At this lunchtime seminar Sean will talk about his experiences of setting-up and running his businesses emphasising the highs and lows he encountered along his entrepreneurial journey and he will reveal the secrets of his entrepreneurial success.
In addition to the ‘Entrepreneurs Live!’ seminar the NovaUCD Open Day will consist of a series of talks, facility tours along with opportunities to meet with, listen and talk to members of NovaUCD’s successful community of entrepreneurs.
In all, ten organisations are working collaboratively to jointly host the Enterprise Week, including the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Enterprise Board, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, Enterprise Ireland, FÁS, Bank of Ireland Business Banking, Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown Chamber, Dún Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology, NovaUCD, the Southside Partnership and the Irish Internet Association.
Organisers are expecting 2,000 business people from all over the county to attend this year’s events.
