UCD Choral Scholars partner with European Union Chamber Orchestra

UCD Choral Scholars will partner with the European Union Chamber Orchestra (EUCO) to present a several joint performances between 2009 and 2011 in Ireland, the UK and Turkey.

The strategic partnership with the UCD School of Music performing group begins in Istanbul in October 2009 with a joint concert of works by Haydn and Mozart as part of the EUCO tour of the region.

In April 2010, UCD Choral Scholars Alumni will travel to England to work with the orchestra, and in 2011 EUCO will come to Dublin to give a performance of the Dublin version of Handel's oratorio Messiah.

UCD Vice-President for Students, Dr Martin Butler, described the partnership as a 'unique opportunity for our students to work with an orchestra acknowledged as a cultural ambassador of the European Union'.

The partnership is a result of discussions between Desmond Earley, Artistic Director of UCD Choral Scholars, and Mr. Ambrose Miller, Director General of the European Union Chamber Orchestra.
