March 2006 - NovaUCD seeking applications for Campus Company Development Programme

NovaUCD is currently seeking applications for its 2006 Campus Company Development Programme (CCDP) beginning in March. Running annually since 1996, the NovaUCD CCDP is a nine-month, part-time enterprise support initiative designed to suit the timetable of busy researchers and academics. It comprises a mix of practical training and consultancy support including 10 half-day workshops, one-to-one advice and consultancy meetings, and a series of networking events.

The aim of the CCDP is to assist academic and research entrepreneurs in the establishment and development of knowledge-intensive enterprises. On completion of the CCDP participants will have developed an investor-ready business plan and a strategy for its implementation. The CCDP helps participants make a realistic assessment of their projects and highlights the practical issues relating to the establishment and development of start-up companies.

The Programme has been specially designed for individuals involved in the development of knowledge-based companies. Projects will be innovative and have the potential to benefit from the specialist expertise and facilities of UCD, Enterprise Ireland and the NovaUCD sponsors. Participants on the Programme will have access to advice from the NovaUCD team and the network of advisors and organisations connected to NovaUCD. They will also have an opportunity to access desk space facilities and associated services of NovaUCD.

The CCDP culminates in an awards evening, held each November during which each company who completes the Programme is presented with a certificate. At the awards evening three projects deliver presentations in front of an external judging panel who choose an overall winner.

Since its inception, 115 projects and 160 individuals have completed the NovaUCD CCDP. PhD student Rosalyn Moran, UCD School of Electrical, Electronic and Mechanical Engineering and founder of Vocal Health Screen was the overall winner of the NovaUCD 2005 CCDP.
