BSc Sport & Exercise Management Work Placement Programme
UCD is committed to the acquisition and sharing of knowledge for the benefit of the wider community. In this mission, the university collaborates with organisations in an increasing number of mutually beneficial initiatives. One of the most important areas of such collaboration is in the provision of professional work placement opportunities for undergraduate students in external organisations and companies.
We recognise that academia and the professional world offer complementary opportunities for learning and personal development. This is particularly true for students in the BSc Sport and Exercise Management programme, where practical experience is essential for a smooth transition from university to the workplace. The work placement component is an integral part of the programme, and students complete a minimum of 200 hours of placement either part-time during the teaching term or full-time in the second year of their three-year degree.
Students can apply for a range of pre-arranged placement opportunities, or organise their own placements. These may include placements with professional bodies, sports teams, gyms, schools, and more.
The work placement module empowers students to take greater responsibility for planning and evaluating their own learning. It also enhances their career prospects and helps them refine their career path. This hands-on experience allows students to apply academic knowledge in real-world settings, while also developing valuable professional and business skills.
