MenoFit:

Empowering Women through Exercise

This research study is examining the impact of exercise on the health and wellbeing of women navigating the menopause transition.

Participant Recruitment – Exercise & Menopause Research - Jan 2026 Start

We are very excited to begin recruitment of participants for a research project at University College Dublin, where we will be exploring how exercise can support the health and quality of life of women going through the menopause transition.

Who We Are Looking For
Women who are:
Currently experiencing symptoms of perimenopause or menopause
Aged between 40 and 60 years of age
Not currently following a prescribed exercise programme

What Participation Involves
A 12-week supervised online exercise programme via zoom (3 × 45-min sessions/week) or placement in a control group continuing usual activity levels

Pre- and post-programme health and fitness testing at UCD’s Institute of Sport and Health
A short one-to-one interview (30 minutes, via Zoom)

Personalised feedback on health and fitness
Access to a structured, supervised exercise programme (if assigned to exercise group)
An online educational session on exercise & menopause for control group participants
The opportunity to contribute to research that may improve supports for women experiencing menopause

About the Project
