UCD experts are spearheading the movement to transform food systems and ensure affordable, nutritious food for a healthy life. Bridging agriculture, food technology, nutrition and health, our multi-disciplinary research drives and supports progress in food security, integrity and climate change adaptation both nationally and globally.

Improving sustainability in farming

UCD is unique in Ireland in having its own teaching and research farm. Lyons Farm provides students and academics with access to large animal and crop enterprises for the delivery of research and teaching programmes. Research projects like SmartGrass are developing new tools to help farmers and policymakers address agri-environmental challenges, to support biodiversity, and to protect the wider environment.
