Information for External Researchers

External researchers (who are not registered students or members of staff in UCD) who wish to carry out research in UCD (including campus-wide surveys) that involves the recruitment of human participants including students are required to obtain ethics approval from their own institution. You must have this before approaching UCD for permission to seek access to recruit.

Please note that the UCD Human Research Ethics Committees no longer review external submissions.

External Researchers will need to seek permission (s) from the relevant authority within UCD for access to students.  This might be the head (s)/dean (s) of school (s) or another relevant authority that can grant permission for you to access/circulate information to students.  You will be asked to provide your REC approval from your own institution.

For campus-wide surveys external researchers will be required to seek permission and a timeslot from the University Student Survey Board (USSB): ussb@ucd.ie   You will be asked to provide your REC approval from your own institution.
