School of Vet Med Photo Competition: A Roaring Success

We were absolutely thrilled by the overwhelming response to our recent animal-themed photography competition, sponsored by the Student Union. Entries showcased everything from captivating wildlife portraits to poignant reflections on our shared environment. The passion and artistry evident in each submission made judging a rewarding experience, and a special congratulations going out to our winning SVM student photographers, who took home the top cash prizes!

Precious Plastics workshop

UCD Innovation Academy and Precious Plastics Ireland, in conjunction with the UCD Sustainable Research Initiative ran 2x one hour interactive workshops on plastic recycling from everyday lab, office and home items.
Participants brought samples of plastics and discussed the different types of plastic classification as well as learning about 3D printing and Citizen science microscopy for microplastics detection on the beach.

Hosted in the O'Brien Centre for Science Hub (H2.38-SCH, main entrance, 2nd floor), this engaging workshop will feature guest speakers and discussions covering critical topics such as sustainability in clinical practice, education and research labs.
