UCD SDG Week sees 1,245 event registrations and "fantastic initiative" from our community
Wednesday, 1 October, 2025
Thank you all so much for hosting and/or attending our 40 UCD SDG Week events throughout last week.
It was the University’s first time dedicating a week to highlighting the UN Sustainable Development Goals, a shared blueprint for people and planet, now and into the future. We are thrilled to say we had 1,245 event registrations and amazing participation and engagement across the week.
"What is particularly inspiring is that the events were proposed by members of our own community, showing fantastic initiative and enthusiasm for sustainability. There were also some great collaborations, external partnerships and networking opportunities," said UCD Vice-President for Sustainability, Professor Tasman Crowe.
The diversity of events and activities was reflected in the attendance by staff, students and the general public - from sessions on topics like the future of the Sustainable Development Goals, identifying greenwashing and the EPA’s State of Ireland’s Environment Report to more hands-on workshops on upcycling jeans, repurposing tin cans, eco-artmaking and sustainable food.
We hope you enjoyed the week and felt the value of engaging with the SDGs. If you would like to learn more about sustainability at UCD or would like to get involved, please have a look at our website www.ucd.ie/sustainability or get in touch via (opens in a new window)vpsustainability@ucd.ie.
PS We hope this video captures a sense of the diverse programme, if not all the events themselves!
