Established in March 1791, the Dublin Tontine Company was an investment tontine which required subscribers to pay 1s. per week for seven years. The raised fund was then invested in government stock. All nominees were required to be resident in Ireland, while subscribers could be from Ireland or Britain. After the seven-year period, the total fund was cashed in and distributed among subscribers with living nominees.
