This year VetEd conference was hosted by Bristol Veterinary School on their beautiful Langford campus in Somerset. Avril McGinn from the UCD Center for Veterinary Education presented a short communication alongside Kathryn Loft, University of Bristol: ‘Teaching multiple consecutive practicals: Investigating task load, challenges and strategies for success’ - and they won best short communication!

Irish Doctoral Education Academy

To support the veterinary educational research activities of PhD students in UCD, a group attended the annual Irish Doctoral Educational Academy (IDEA) meeting on the 23rd of January 2024. Hosted by the RCSI University of Medicine and Health Sciences, IDEA provides a forum for health professional education student researchers and their supervisors to network and for scholars to offer advice.

Launch of the Centre for Veterinary Education

The Centre was launched by SVM Dean & Head of School, Rory Breathnach and CHAS College Principal, Professor Cecily Kelleher. Our Director, Associate Professor Sue Rackard, gave a brief overview of the mission and objectives of the Centre including examples of some of the research and CPD initiatives it supports and guests mingled to discuss its direction.
