Thomas Callaghan Scholarship
This scholarship is named in memory of Thomas Callaghan, a UCD Classics graduate. The scholarship of up to €3,810 may be awarded each year to a second year Greek or Latin student (Major with Minor or Joint Major). The first half of the scholarship will be awarded in December on the basis of outstanding performance in the Stage 1 examinations and progress at Stage 2. In July, the same candidate will be eligible for the second half of the scholarship on the basis of outstanding performance in the Stage 2 examinations.
This was established in 1993 in honour of John A. Richmond, a member of the University staff from 1966 and Professor of Greek from 1980 to 1990. The prize may be awarded annually for best performance in Stage 2 Greek and Roman Civilization (Major or Joint Major), Greek (Major or Joint Major), or Latin (Major or Joint Major), at the discretion of the Head of the School of Classics.
