Earth Sciences refer to the fields of science dealing with Planet Earth. Earth scientists use tools from physics, chemistry, and biology along with geology, geography and environmental science to build an understanding of how the Earth works, and how it evolved to its current state. Earth Sciences change rapidly in scope and nature and our degree programme reflects these changes along with the needs of society and industry, providing graduates who are internationally highly regarded. The School has collaborative teaching links with Trinity College Dublin and several Schools within UCD. Communication between students and staff at all levels is excellent, in most part due to staff operating a relaxed and informal open door policy. Our small numbers of students facilitate this system.
