Adopt-A-Book Appeal

The James Joyce Library is UCD's centre for information and knowledge. It is in many ways the heart of the University and is fundamental to UCD's success.

In this difficult economic climate, the library resources at UCD are more important than ever. Many students find the cost of essential texts prohibitive and are using the library’s permanent collection to support them in their studies. This extra pressure on library resources results in natural wear and tear and many books have to be removed from the shelves and replaced with newer versions. There is now an urgent need for funding to support the purchase of these additional essential texts.

UCD Foundation has launched the Adopt-a-Book Appeal to support the library with funding needed to continue to provide an excellent service to UCD students and alumni.

We are asking you to donate €50, which is the average cost of an essential text. We will place a Bookplate with your name, the name of a friend or colleague (or a name in memoriam) in a book in the library.

The Adopt-a-Book Appeal is the starting point of a long-term strategy to develop philanthropic interest in the Library. The goal of this fundraising appeal is to supplement government and university funding with donations from individuals who share a passion for the Library at UCD, who recognise the important role the Library plays in student and academic life and who wish to share in the University's commitment to its future.

Whether you use the Library (and you are entitled to if you are a member of the Alumni Association) or just care about the books, please donate today - any contribution is welcome and every one will make a difference.
