UCD Alumni Fund: Scholarships Appeal
Remember how proud you were… the day you got your degree from UCD? It is your internationally recognised academic passport that can open doors to many new job opportunities and careers and hopefully it’s a rich rewarding reminder of some of the very best years of your life.
Sadly, in today’s harsh economic environment it is becoming more difficult for less well off students to afford to study for a degree. Recent cutbacks have resulted in a position where government funding now covers only 50% of the University’s operational costs and there is no money available to fund scholarships. This concerns us greatly because scholarships provide access to all who strive to attend university and equal access is something that we strongly believe in.
UCD offers some exceptional scholarship programmes to prospective and current students. These include:
New ERA (equal right to access) Scholarships: Awarded to assist bright, able students who, for a variety of social or economic reasons, might face a barrier to attending university.
Medical Science Electives Scholarships: Stage 4 and 5 medical students are awarded this scholarship to support international study and research opportunities in North America and the developing world.
Sports Scholarships: Awarded to very talented, high-performing students to encourage them to join a sports club in UCD and compete for the university.

These students are among our brightest potential graduates of the future. However, without scholarship funding, some of these students could not afford to be at the University.
You can help shape the future of a student who has the desire to learn, but unfortunately not the means, by providing funding for an essential textbook costing €50 or even sponsoring a full semester for €500. Please be assured that any gift, large or small, is most welcome and every gift will make a difference.
