We recommend that candidates hold a current Basic Life Support Certificate before attending Immediate Care Cardiac Courses.

IMMEDIATE CARE TRAUMA

Immediate Care Trauma Courses equip participants to manage trauma related life-threatening emergencies in a pre-hospital setting. The course content is a mixture of sessions dealing with the principles of management of serious trauma and participation on a range of skill stations. Much of the day is spent on skill stations allowing sufficient time for hands-on practice of skills and familiarisation with the equipment needed to manage and stabilise a trauma patient. The standard course is planned around road traffic accident procedures, planning and preparation. Concepts learned in this module are applicable to any trauma situation and the courses run in association with the Turf Club and Motorsports Ireland will address some of the specific scenarios that may arise in these settings.

The course will focus on practical skills such as:

  • Dealing with head injuries and the multi-system trauma victim
  • Primary and secondary patient surveys
