Simultaneous Equations

Simultaneous Equations

This interactive GeoGebra worksheet allows you to solve simultaneous equations. There are two ways you can use the worksheet.

  • You can edit the equations. In this case the lines corresponding to the new equations are drawn on the screen (the colours of the lines and equations correspond) and the solution (which occurs at the intersection of the lines) is shown in green and is accurate to two decimal places.
  • You can click and drag the lines. In this case the equations are adjusted to match the lines and as in the first case the solution is shown in green.

Have a go and see what happens! Don't worry, if you do something that you didn't intend, you can return the worksheet to its original form by clicking on the icon in the top right hand corner.

Note that if the lines are parallel then there is no solution and if the lines are on top of each other then no solution is shown but in fact any point on the line is a solution.
