University College Dublin is the only university offering the Degree of Bachelor of Agricultural Science in the Republic of Ireland and provides excellent teaching, laboratory and research station facilities. The University offers 11 specialisations in the business and science of agriculture within the internationally recognised Agricultural Science degree programme and also offers a BSc in Food Science programme. Each of the degree programme options is designed to educate the professionals who will play leading roles in key sectors of the economy. The following are options within this course:

How do I enter DN250 Agricultural Science from a QQI-FET award?

Entry to first year Agricultural Science is available on a competitive basis to applicants who present an accepted major award with Distinction (80% or better) in at least 5 components, including any components and/or results specified below.

  • 5M2768 Animal Care
  • CASLT/5M3807 Laboratory Techniques
  • CASHX/5M2586 Horticulture

What components are required?

5M2768 Animal Care

The award must include Distinction in at least 5 components, and must include Distinction in the following components:

  • C20139/5N1833 Mathematics or grade O6/H7 in Leaving Certificate Mathematics
  • 5N2746 Biology or 5N0750 Animal Anatomy & Physiology or Grade O6/H7 in Leaving Certificate Biology    
CASLT/5M3807 Laboratory Techniques

The award must include Distinction in at least 5 components, and must include Distinction in the following components:

  • C20139/5N1833 Mathematics or C20174 Mathematics for Engineering or C20175 Mathematics for Computing or  Grade O6/H7 in Leaving Certificate Mathematics
  • And two of the following components:
    • C20006/5N2746 Biology
    • C20011/5N2747 Chemistry
    • C20048/5N1460 Physics
CASHX/5M2586 Horticulture

The award must include Distinction in at least 5 components, and must include Distinction in the following components:

  • C20049/5N2528 Plant Science
  • C20055/5N2530 Soil Science and Growing Media
  • C20190/5N2527 Plant Identification and Use
  • C20139/5N1833 Mathematics or C20174 Mathematics for Engineering or C20175 Mathematics for Computing or  Grade O6/H7 in Leaving Certificate Mathematics
