On Wednesday 15 November at 3pm, UCD's Reading Italian Literature course will host a seminar by Professor Franco Pierno (University of Toronto) on "The Language of Promessi Sposi in the context of the Italian questione della lingua" to celebrate the Anno Manzoniano.

Professor Pierno is a major specialist in the history of the Italian language and has published extensively on the Italian language abroad, the Italian questione della lingua, and the relationship between Protestant reformers and the Italian language in the 16th century. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Rivista di Studi Manzoniani and has just been appointed Accademico Corrispondente Estero of the Accademia Della Crusca, the most prestigious society of scholars devoted to the Italian language and philology.
