Lifelong Learning Launch

On 15 July, we launched the 76th year of the UCD Lifelong Learning Programme, welcoming over 120 attendees, including alumni, current and retired staff, and long-time learners who have shaped this community over the years.
The event was opened by Dr Jennifer Doyle, Head of ALL Operations and Flexible Learning, who spoke about the power of intergenerational learning and introduced new programme developments for 2025–26. Dr Bairbre Fleming, Director of UCD Access and Lifelong Learning, shared a rich history of adult education at UCD, while long-standing tutor Áinnle O’Neill reflected on the enduring value of lifelong learning from a teaching perspective. Áinnle’s Walks and Talks of Dublin remains a favourite, year after year.
This year’s programme introduces new tutors and an expanded range of subjects including Archaeology, Sustainability, Politics, and Physics. We’re also proud to announce new cultural partnerships with the National Print Museum and (opens in a new window)Airfield Estate, each bringing vibrant, hands-on learning opportunities and supporting our shared commitment to cultural preservation and community engagement.
Lifelong Learning at UCD continues to evolve, fostering curiosity, connection, and creativity at every stage of life. Whether you're returning to study or trying something completely new, there’s a place for you here.
Bookings for the programme are now live, discover more by visiting our webpage.
Come to a taster session, bring a friend, and discover the joy of learning for learning’s sake.
