“I thought the Access Leaders were relatable and highlighted that university is for everyone regardless of background or circumstance and gave excellent insights into student life in UCD.” Some very well deserved feedback from an attendee of one of our Student Experience Days. Prospective students from our link schools and further education colleges could attend a lecture of their choice, enjoy lunch in one of UCD’s main restaurants, and hear from Access Leaders about their uni experiences.
The purpose of the event is to help prospective students become familiar with university life.
Approximately 80 students from our 16 linked DEIS schools were in attendance, along with a small cohort of mature learners at the Student Experience Day on 5th November.
The Further Education and Training (FET) Learner Experience Days were held on the 12th and 13th of November 2025. These were piloted in conjunction with our Dublin and Dún Laoghaire Education Training Board (DDLETB) collaboration partner. Fifty-five learners from all five of the DDLETB Colleges of Further Education (CFE) attended the event packed morning. The second FET Learner Experience Day was a bespoke event. The Liberal Arts QQI Level 5 from Dundrum CFE were offered the opportunity to attend, not one, but two lectures related directly to the course they are currently pursuing.
