Valuing Voices - a UCD Think Again and Women’s Collective Ireland collaboration
We were delighted to host Valuing Voices last week, a collaboration between the Think Again project in UCD Access and Lifelong Learning andWomen's Collective Ireland(WCI).Siobhán Nic Fhlannchadha, PhDand DrBairbre Flemingwelcomed 50 students of WCI programmes in Ronanstown, Tallaght, Liffey Valley and Mullingar to the UCD campus.
Our student Access Leaders led a tour of the Belfield campus. Then Dr
Aideen Quilty
and
Marlene Douglas
spoke about their work and experiences in UCD, and we heard impactful words from a panel hosted by WIC's Sinéad Mahon of current UCD students, Think Again scholars and recent graduates. All attendees participated in a discussion of the challenges faced by women in education, as well as naming their own superpower in education. The sun shone as attendees went their separate ways, buzzing from the inspirational words they had heard and shared throughout the day.
UCD Think Again is a scholarship and development programme for women over the age of 23 from underrepresented groups. The scholarship is available to those studying full-time or part-time, including women studying on a University Access Programme.
