Who are our Access Leaders?

Who are our Access Leaders?

Access Leaders are a group of exceptional students who have been selected to represent UCD Access and Lifelong Learning and play a vital role in assisting us with our work.

The UCD Student Access Leader Programme is a paid role and is open to full and part time Access and Lifelong Learning students who are on a progression pathway (e.g. a UCD University Access or Open Learning Programme) or a degree programme working towards an accredited award.

What is the role of an Access Leader?

One aspect of an Access Leader's role is to give peer support and mentoring to new entrants about to undertake a degree programme or progression pathway to undergraduate study.

Access Leaders’ first-hand understanding of UCD’s diverse entry pathways and of the journey students have taken to be here means they are uniquely placed to help incoming students adjust to their new environment. Their presence, voice, and own experiences help reassure newer students that their goals are achievable.

What activities are Access Leaders involved in?

What activities are Access Leaders involved in?

Our Access Leaders collaborate with us to design and deliver a variety of activities across the campus and beyond. These include the annual University for All Symposium, the ALL Student Welcome and also the summer school and other outreach activities where they meet potential students who would like to know more about UCD. Access Leaders have represented UCD at committee level and national conferences.
