Open Learning for Credit

CG01 Open Learning for Credit - Applications will open in July

If you want to take modules for credit, continued professional development or are a mature student and using Open Learning to support an undergraduate application, CG01 Open Learning is for you. It allows you to study at your own pace, with the potential to exit with a University Certificate (30 credits, Level 7 NFQ) or University Diploma in Open Learning (60 credits, Level 7 NFQ).

We are hosting an in-person info session at 6 p.m. on Tuesday 22 July - use (opens in a new window)this form to sign up.

Open Learning for Credit modules cost €525 each.

Please ensure that you consult our Open Learning Readiness Checker and are aware of the academic and financial liabilities of being a UCD student before applying for our programme.

We are using UCD’s new application system this year. If you encounter any issues submitting your application, please let us know by contacting (opens in a new window)all@ucd.ie.

We are hosting drop-in sessions for anyone who needs help with submitting their application:

Tuesday 29 July - 2:00-3:00 p.m.
Thursday 31 July - 10:00-11:00 a.m.
Wednesday 6 August - 11:00-12:00 p.m.

Please note that module selection will open at the end of August or the beginning of September 2025. You will receive a notification when it is time to choose your modules. There will not be an option to select your module when you submit your application for your Open Learning programme.

If you are accepting an Open Learning for Credit place in 2025/26, you will be required to pay a €100 deposit at the time that you accept your offer.
