Fourth-year medical student Jing Wen Ong represented UCD College of Health and Agricultural Science at the U21 Annual Meeting in McMaster University, Ontario, Canada on 25-28 August.

Jing was a participant in the U21 SDG One Health workshop held in UCD on 12-13 June and was selected from the group to present at the annual meeting in McMaster University.

She delivered two presentations to an international audience. The first detailed a 'One Health' case study originally developed during the U21 SDG Workshop, examining the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health. Her second presentation shared a reflective account of her personal growth from a student participant to a volunteer mentor in the IPE International Student Challenge.

“The workshops, research, and people I met were incredible,” Ong said. “Being invited to present was an honour, and it solidified how essential global, interdisciplinary collaboration is for tackling complex challenges in health and sustainability. The experience provided invaluable perspectives that extend far beyond the classroom.”
