Seeing the Invisible - The Resolution Revolution

UCD Conway Institute is proud to host a national cryo-electron microscopy facility led by Conway Fellow, Professor Oliver Blacque and made possible through a €3.7M funding award from Research Ireland. This leading technology will revolutionise biomedical research. By allowing us to freeze and image biological molecules in 3D at near-atomic resolution, cryo-EM essentially lets researchers see the 'shape' of diseases like cancer and blindness for the first time and fast-track the development of new medicines.
