Histological Sample Preparation

(opens in a new window)Prof. Paul McLoughlin leads this facility that offers comprehensive tissue processing services, including formalin-fixed tissue processing, paraffin embedding, and precision sectioning using manual and automated microtomes, as well as frozen sectioning with a cryostat.

Automated H&E staining, coverslipping, and antigen retrieval ensure high-quality slide preparation. Slides can be digitised via the Aperio scanner or analysed using light and electron microscopy in collaboration with the UCD Conway Research Pathology and Imaging Core Facilities. Equipped with advanced Leica instrumentation and committed to continuous upgrades, we provide reliable histology support for research and education.
