Identification workshops on birds, invertebrates, plants, bumblebees and earthworms in UCD for National Biodiversity Week, 19-23 May
Our ever-popular spring campus walks are running again this year from 16 April to 21 May
The first paper from a UCD-based COST Action investigating crops that have become underutilised in Europe has been published. The DIVERSICROP network is chaired by Dr Sónia Negrão (UCD School of Biology and Environmental Science) and the lead author on the paper, which features contributors from more than 10 countries across Europe, is Assoc. Prof. Meriel McClatchie (UCD School of Archaeology).
Lennon Ó'Náraigh from the School of Mathematics has built his own tabletop flume from Lego, Perspex and wood. He is using it to teach students about waves and how they behave, something of interest to many disciplines and with a vast range of real world implications.
UCD Earth Institute is delighted to announce four new resident journalists who will work with the institute and its members over the next year. With this second round of residencies, we look forward to collaborating with four impressive journalists working across a range of media with diverse experience and interests.
The UCD Institute of Food and Health, the UCD Earth Institute, and the UCD Conway Institute—supported by funding from the UCD Research Culture ReCLAIM award scheme —are launching a new science communication training programme to upskill our research communities through storytelling.
Does your research engage with Africa? UCD Earth Institute and UCD Global Engagement are hosting a half-day research event on 22 May which builds on UCD's Africa Engagement Strategy by showcasing research and platforming conversations around UCD research in and about Africa in the areas of climate, environment and sustainability. We are currently inviting presentations from UCD researchers whose work connects to these topics.
