Our Vision

The vision of the UCD Ageing Network is to contribute to an age-attuned world and to prepare for the economic and social shifts associated with population ageing in Irish Society and globally.

We set out to progress age justice, equity, health and inclusion to enable older people to be:

  1. Valued and respected.
  2. To recognise and acknowledge older people as active agents and contributors to their communities and wider society, and when the time comes, to be cared for within their local communities and wider society.
  3. We also want to work with older adults to develop strategies to enable these to happen.

Mission

The mission of the UCD Ageing Network is to harness inter- and transdisciplinary intellectual capital, creativity and curiosity to create optimum environments (political, social, physical, health, and technological) that enable older people to age well within their communities and contribute to a just and fair society.

Objectives

To respect diversity and place the views, attitudes, opinions and needs of all older people and their families at the centre of our research and education endeavours.

To recognise and acknowledge older people as active agents and contributors to their communities and wider society.

To establish a Network to create a platform to bring multiple, diverse and creative perspectives together to maximise research and education opportunities and address the challenges outlined in our vision and mission.

To foster an age-friendly community in UCD and to work in partnership with local community groups for older people around shared interests and projects.

To develop sustainable and dynamic partnerships within UCD, with our clinical and community partners, and national and international collaborators to progress age-related research and education.

To strategically target International, European, and National research and education funding aligned with our vision and mission.
