Jack White, who is best known for his time with The White Stripes, has been presented with the James Joyce Award from the UCD Literary & Historical Society.

According to Rolling Stone Magazine, ‘The White Stripes were the 2000’s most influential new band, thanks to a sound that mixed classic blues with smart, boisterous, and vibrant punk-rock. The group became rock stars and Grammy winners in only a few short years’.

“Young people treasure music and it is in these years that we find the artists who speak to us, who literally give our lives a soundtrack, and who express all of our most truthful thoughts and emotions. Jack White is one of these artists. He is an artist in true form, as shown by his incredible abilities as a writer, producer and performer,” said Daisy Onubogu, Auditor of the UCD Literary & Historical Society, University College Dublin, who presented the award
