UCD AgSoc gifts €40,000 to chosen charities

Two charities have been gifted tens of thousands of euro after (opens in a new window)UCD’s Agricultural Science Society (AgSoc) raised €40,000 with its annual fundraising efforts.
The large sum was raised through events and activities organised by the society's committee and auditor Maeve Cooper.
“A huge thanks to all of our sponsors throughout the year, all our committee members for their time and efforts, and to everyone who has donated and participated in our fundraising efforts throughout the year” AgSoc said, writing to thank all those who donated their time and money over the 2024/2025 academic year.

Two cheques totalling €20,000 each were presented to representatives from (opens in a new window)Make the Moove and (opens in a new window)The Dillon Quirke Foundation by AgSoc members outside the UCD Agriculture and Food Science Centre.
Make the Moove is a nationwide programme promoting positive mental health among farmers.
The group works with farmers to create programmes, resources, and partnerships that are grounded in research and tailored to the needs of rural Ireland.
The Dillon Quirke Foundation works to raise awareness of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) and fund widespread cardiac screening for young people (aged 12-18) involved in sport.
The Foundation was founded by the family of Dillon Quirke, an Irish hurler who died after collapsing during a county senior championship in 2022.
