‘Sculpted by Aimee’ founder Aimee Connolly honoured at 2025 UCD Alumni Awards

The driving force behind one of Ireland’s most recognisable beauty brands has had her business acumen recognised at this year’s (opens in a new window)UCD Alumni Awards.

Aimee Connolly set up her thriving business ‘Sculpted by Aimee’ at the age of 23 whilst completing a first-class honours BComm International degree in University College Dublin.

Nearly ten years on, the award-winning beauty brand is now one of the fastest growing Irish beauty brands in the market and currently employs more than 100 people across stores in Dublin, Kildare, Belfast and London.

Sculpted by Aimee’ was named as one of the BeautyMatter Future50 brands shaping the face of global beauty in 2025, and alongside this accolade, Aimee has won other awards including IMAGE PwC Businesswoman of the Year, a Business & Finance Elevation Award, and an EY Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2021.

The beauty entrepreneur was one of nine high achieving UCD alumni whose outstanding accomplishments were honoured at the 12th annual UCD Alumni Awards earlier this month.

The worthy recipients were:

  • UCD Alumni Award in Arts and Humanities: Dr Emily O’Reilly / BA 1979, Honorary Doctorate of Laws 2014
  • UCD Alumni Award in Business: Aimee Connolly, BComm International 2015
  • UCD Alumni Award in Engineering and Architecture: Niall McLaughlin, BArch 1984
  • UCD Alumni Award in Health and Agricultural Sciences: Dr Peter J. Timoney, MVB 1964
  • UCD Alumni Award in Law: Sarah Keane, BCL 1995, LLM 1996
  • UCD Alumni Award in Research, Innovation and Impact: Dr Shourjya Sanyal, GradCert Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Enterprise 2013, PhD 2017
  • UCD Alumni Award in Science: Dr Úna McCarthy-Fakhry, BSc 1998
  • UCD Alumni Award in Social Sciences: Paul O’Brien, BA Philosophy and Economics 1989
  • UCD Alumni Award in Sport: Louise Quinn, BSc 2011

The UCD Alumni Awards were introduced in 2014 to acknowledge the achievements of notable graduates from among the over 334,000 UCD alumni across 184 countries around the world.

Since their inception these honours have recognised individuals who exemplify excellence and embody the values of UCD through their work and contributions to society.

Previous awardees include three-time Olympian Ciara Mageean; Oscar winning director and screenwriter Neil Jordan; medal winning Olympian Eimear Lambe; the first female President of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland,  Professor Mary Horgan; Academy Award nominatee costume designer Consolata Boyle; and Irish flanker Josh van der Flier, one of only three Irish players ever to be awarded the World Rugby Men's 15s Player of the Year.
