Artificial Intelligence at UCD
Artificial Intelligence at UCD
The University is committed to the responsible and ethical use of Artificial Intelligence, grounded in our core values of Inclusion, Excellence, Engagement, Integrity, Collegiality, and Creativity. AI already supports research, teaching, and operations across UCD, offering opportunities to enhance how we learn, discover, and serve our community. Guided by UCD’s AI Governance Principles and the EU AI Act, we are taking a measured, transparent approach that balances innovation with accountability - ensuring that every use of AI at UCD reflects our shared commitment to trust, fairness, and human-centred practice.
Here you’ll find a set of resources designed to help staff and students understand how AI is being used across the University, what good practice looks like, and where to go for further guidance and support.

AI Literacy at UCD
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has quickly become a part of everyday life, impacting how we learn, teach, conduct research, and manage our day to day administrative tasks. Across UCD, colleagues are exploring its potential in different ways and with varying perspectives on its value, impact, and appropriate use. What unites these perspectives is a shared need: the capacity to critically engage with, assess, and use AI with confidence and care.
Our goal is to ensure a baseline level of AI literacy across the University, a shared understanding of what AI is, how it can be used responsibly, and how it connects to our University values of collegiality, creativity, inclusion, engagement, excellence and integrity.
