Packages and Mail
Residence Mailrooms
The University Mailroom in Merville receives all Belfield residence post. Post for Blackrock residences is handled through the Blackrock Services Desk. Students living on either campus will receive their post by delivery by the Campus Assistants every evening between 18:00 and 22:00.
Letters and Small Packages
Small postal deliveries, such as envelopes, will be delivered to your apartment Monday to Friday from 18:00 to 20:00. Please note there are no deliveries of post at the weekend or bank holidays.
Names on parcels and letters should be written as per your student name on your UCard, and please ensure the correct address is used, including the name of your residence, your house number, apartment, and room number.
Packages
An email will be sent to your UCD Connect account alerting you of the delivery of a package. You can then collect it from the Merville Mailroom. This mailroom is open 08:00 to 16:00 from Monday to Friday. Proby and Blackrock halls residents will receive an email informing them of a package to collect from the Blackrock Campus Services Desk.
Packages must be collected at the Merville Mailroom and signed for by the recipient with verification of a valid UCard. The Mailroom only contains packages delivered by An Post and does not accept parcels or letters from any other courier.
Sending Mail and Parcels
Students wishing to send mail or a parcel should go to an An Post office which can be located (opens in a new window)here.
If you are sending a letter which has been stamped, you can use the post box located outside the Gerard Manley Hopkins Building. For Blackrock Residents, letters and packages that are already stamped can be sent from the An Post post box located at the mailboxes beside the Blackrock Services Desk.
Couriers
Please do not use the Mailroom as an address for your courier deliveries as they will not be accepted by the Mailroom team.
If you have requested a delivery or ordered items that are to be delivered by a courier, please ensure that you or a designated person is on campus to receive them. The Mailroom will not take responsibility for courier deliveries as they require a signature from the recipient for proof of delivery to the end user.
Useful Tips
We are aware of a issues currently experienced by students when ordering STI testing kits from the HSE's Sexual Health Centre (SH24) service.
To ensure your kit is delivered correctly, please follow these instructions when entering your address on the SH24 website.
- When you reach the end of the questionaire it will ask you to confirm your delivery address (See figure to the right). When this happens, please choose to enter your address manually. Please add in your name, room, apartment and house number as well as other relevant details.
