About the Club

Welcome to the home of the UCD Staff Photography Club. The Club aims to provide a relaxed and welcoming setting for staff to learn more about photography, share their photos and develop their skills. Membership is open to any employee with an interest in photography, regardless of skill level. You won't need a 'fancy' camera and we'll try as much as possible to tailor monthly challenges to camera phone users as well as SLR owners.

Meeting format (While hybrid working is in place)

The Club meets once a month online via Zoom to showcase entries from the monthly challenges and generally chat about photography.

An invitation is issued to our mailing list each month which details the topic for the challenge.

The Club meets once a month, at lunchtime (1-2pm) on a Wednesday.

As we are in the early stages of the Club, we don't have a regular home so if you'd like to keep up do date on times and locations of meetings then join our email list by contacting (opens in a new window)engage@ucd.ie.

Generally the meetings include discussions, an activity and a review of the month's challenge.

How do I join?

Membership is open to any employee of UCD. The terms under which 'employee clubs' were established do not allow for student members.

What about students?

Students with an interest in starting or joining a photography society should visit the (opens in a new window)Student Societies section or email (opens in a new window)societies.council@ucd.ie to view the ranage of student-focussed clubs on campus. Unfortunately we are not able to take on student members at this point.

Event photography

All club members are working full time and therefore unavailable to cover campus or off-campus events (day or night).

For event photography, please contact Photographic Services (part of IT Services).

Staff Clubs in UCD

The Staff Photography Club was established under Culture & Engagement's 'Employee Clubs Project' which provides a framework for the establishment of social clubs aimed at employees of UCD.

Culture & Engagement can support employees who wish to come together and create a club which provides a relaxed and informal way to build networks amongst the UCD community. You can learn more about starting a club on the Culture & Engagement 'starting a club' page.
