Tuberculosis (TB) testing for incoming Health Science students is required to exclude the possibility of Latent TB as part of the Occupational Health Screening at UCD. TB testing carried out within the last two years, prior to entry into UCD is accepted.
The following tests are accepted tests:
- A Tuberculin Skin Test (TST/Mantoux)
- An IGRA TB QuantiFERON Gold blood test
- A TB T-Spot blood test
TST results should be recorded in mm (eg; 0 (zero) mm) rather than Positive or Negative.
All Positive results will require follow-up in accordance with national TB treatment guidelines.
Students should be provided with documentation of the result on your clinic’s headed paper.
Quantiferon Gold and T-Spot TB blood test results should be in the form of a laboratory report.
