A very warm welcome to the four new new Institute members that have recently joined us!

Rui Teixeira (Civil Engineering) began his career as a structural reliability engineer for offshore structures, before moving to work in decision-making to recover critical infrastructure from flooding. Patrick Paul Walsh (Politics and International Relations) is a Professor of International Development in UCD, as well as Senior Advisor to the UN’s think tank Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN). Paul was involved, as part of the Major Group for Science and Technology, in the Inter-Governmental Negotiations of UN Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development (SDGs) which led to the Sustainable Development Goals. Bradley Garrett (Geography) is a social and cultural geographer whose research often engages with urban and subterranean geographies. His new book "Bunker: Building for End Times" explores global and rapidly growing movement of people 'prepping' for social and environmental collapse, or 'Doomsday'. We are delighted to be collaborating with UCD School of Geography for the launch of Bunker - for more info, see our events page. Andreas Hoepner (Business) is a Professor of Operational Risk, Banking and Finace, as well as being  Vice Principal for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI). Andreas is a Financial Data Scientist who wants to work towards a future conflict-free capitalism.

Welcome to Rui, Paul, Bradley and Andreas! You can find out more about our members and their research interests in our directory.
