The six principle investigators and founding members of the CTPR include the Director, Dr. Brona Fullen (School of Public Health, Physiotherapy and Sports Science (PHPSS), Co-Directors Dr. Catherine Blake (Deputy Head of School, PHPSS) and Dr. Catherine Doody (Senior Lecturer, SPHPSS), and Professor Gerry Wilson (School of Medicine), Professor Laserina O’Connor (School Nursing, Midwifery and Health Systems), and Professor Brendan Murphy (School Mathematics and Statistics).

The rationale for the Centre is to consolidate and further develop a multidisciplinary research group that will design, lead, and conduct a sustainable programme of high quality, internationally competitive pain research. The group has commitments from clinical partners in multidisciplinary Pain teams in the Ireland East Hospital Group (Mater, St. Vincent’s), Tallaght and Beaumont hospitals.

The CTPR will also provide a platform for larger scale interdisciplinary multi-centre research activities and upcoming funding applications and foster effective strategic intersectoral research partnerships with professional and charitable organisations, industry, and public and non-governmental agencies.
