UCD and University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign communicates Irish Agri-Food

We we delighted to welcome Owen Roberts Lecturer and Director of Agricultural Communications in University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and his students to the UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science
We are hosted a day-long event for the study group as part of a special study abroad programme titled: 'Communicating Irish Agri-Food to the World.'
They were introduced to the programmes and research in the School with the lineup of speakers including Dr. Aifric O'Sullivan, Prof. Karina Pierce, Prof. Jim Kinsella, and researcher Claire Mc Cormack.
We were also delighted to welcome some of Irelands agri media including Stella Meehan, editor at Agriland Media and chair of the Guild of Agricultural Journalists of Ireland, Amy Forde, news editor at the Irish Farmers Journal
The talks concluded with a presentations by Dr. Owen Roberts, Director of Agricultural Communications at UIUC and also former president of the IFAJ - International Federation of Agricultural Journalists.
The group visited Rosemount Environmental Research Station for a tour and insight into the research and amazing work that is done by David, Gordon and the team there.
The event is designed to provide the group with an overview of agricultural communications and extension in the Irish context, ahead of their week-long programme of visits to the Irish Farm Centre Limited, Airfield Estate, Bord Bia Bloom, Alltech beef and dairy farms, and a number of other locations.
