Welcome to the UCD Algae Group

Research Overview

We are a young, multicultural and ambitious research group passionate about all things algae and algae-related.

Our aim is to develop novel sciences and industry-transferrable technologies pertaining to the use of microalgae for the bioremediation of agri-food side-streams and co-generation of food/bioenergy products.

Jointly based in the School of Biosystems and Food Engineering and Conway Institute at University College Dublin, we plan to catalyse the growth of microalgae industry in Ireland and make meaningful impact on the Irish bioeconomy.

We are always in the lookout for passionate algaeneers to join our team as well as academic and industry partners across Ireland, the EU and internationally for collaboration.

Please do not hesitate to contact our Principal Investigator, Dr. Ronald Halim at (opens in a new window)ronald.halim@ucd.ie, for any queries.
