The IUA Deans of Graduate Studies group, with support from the IUA and QQI, are delighted to open registrations for all new and experienced doctoral supervisors to attend a free, day-long symposium on Future Excellence in Doctoral SupervisionThe event will be hosted by DCU on Friday 17 May 2024.

The symposium will feature insightful discussions and engaging conversations led by renowned experts in the field of doctoral education, including UCD’s own Professor Barbara Dooley (Dean of Graduate Studies and Deputy Registrar), Mr Hugh Kearns (Flinders University, Australia; iThinkWell), Professor Eithne Guilfoyle (Lead in the NFDE Revision 2023) and Professor Alan Smeaton (DCU, and member of the Government of Ireland’s AI Advisory Council). Additionally, there will be an engaging panel discussion with doctoral students on the importance of celebrating diversity in postgraduate research, chaired by Professor Ann McPhail (Associate Vice President, Doctoral College, University of Limerick). 

Whether you are a seasoned supervisor or just beginning your journey in research supervision, this symposium promises to offer invaluable insights and practical strategies to elevate your practice and ensure future excellence in doctoral supervision.
