(opens in a new window)TrojanTrack has been named the Connacht and Leinster regional winner of the Business-to-Business (B2B) Award category at this year’s InterTradeIreland Seedcorn Investor Readiness Competition.

The company received €50,000 and will now advance to the All-Island final to be held in Dublin this November.

The (opens in a new window)InterTradeIreland Seedcorn Investor Readiness Competition is the largest business competition of its kind on the island of Ireland, offering a total prize fund of €800,000 to promising start-ups and early-stage businesses.

TrojanTrack, based at the National Equine Innovation Centre at the Irish National Stud in Co. Kildare, was founded in 2021 by Stephen O’Dwyer, a University College Dublin (UCD) biomedical engineering graduate.

TrojanTrack provides an accessible, non-invasive way to monitor a horse’s movement, without disrupting the horse's routine or relying on expensive, uncomfortable wearable tech.

The company’s AI-driven platform delivers objective, science-backed insights into a horse’s biomechanics. While aiming to enhance performance, reduce the risk of injury, or support recovery, TrojanTrack gives the user the data needed to make smarter decisions. Built on innovation, tested in real-world environments, and designed with the welfare of the horse at its core, TrojanTrack is shaping the future of equine care.

Stephen O’Dwyer, Founder and CEO, TrojanTrack said, “Seedcorn has been a brilliant experience for us as a start-up. It’s validation that TrojanTrack isn’t just a great product, but a scalable SaaS business with global potential. The feedback from the judges and mentors has been invaluable as we prepare for our next funding round.”

TrojanTrack is currently participating in the AI Ecosystem Accelerator Programme being delivered by NovaUCD in Dublin in partnership with CeADAR, Ireland’s Centre for AI and the European Digital Innovation Hub for AI in Ireland.

In addition to TrojanTrack, BackAware was named winner in the B2C Award category, and Slíglas was named winner of the Deep Tech Award Category in the Connacht and Leinster regional final.

“Congratulations to all the finalists who participated in our Connacht and Leinster Regional Finals. The competition is always strong, and the innovation we see continues to impress year after year. A big congratulations to TrojanTrack, BackAware and Slíglas for securing their spots in the Dublin finals next month. It’s going to be one competitive final,” said, Shane O’Hanlon, Funding for Growth Manager, InterTradeIreland.

TrojanTrack previously completed the AgTechUCD Agccelerator Programme at the AgTechUCD Innovation Centre at UCD Lyons Farm and the Enterprise Ireland funded New Frontiers Programme at TU Dublin.

At next month’s final the 12 regional category Award winner, from Connacht and Leinster, Dublin, Munster and Northern Ireland, will compete for a €130,000 overall prize.

As part of the regional finals, companies pitched their business plan to a panel of industry judges that included Stephen Scullion, Director of Corporate Finance at Invest NI, Paul Byrnes, CEO of Mavarick AI, Sophie Hughes, Analyst at Seroba Life Sciences and Denise Sidhu, Partner and Director at Kernel Capital.

The process mirrored a real-life investment process, and each finalist has received expert feedback on its business plan and pitch, as well as increased exposure to investors. (opens in a new window)https://intertradeireland.com/funding/seedcorn/
