IT System Portfolio

The IT Systems Portfolio serves as the list of systems, comprising groups of applications, managed by IT Services to support the services available to students, employees and the broader UCD community.

The IT Systems Portfolio is categorised into Tiers to reflect impact on University operations.

Applications that have been purchased or deployed locally within a school or unit, lie outside the control of IT Services, and are not included in this IT Systems Portfolio.

Description Systems that provide shared infrastructure that other systems are reliant on.  These systems are critical to the continuity of operations and must maintain continuous availability. Their failure would impact multiple downstream systems and result in widespread disruption. Systems directly supporting the University’s core business activities. These systems are essential to institutional operations and require high availability with minimal tolerance for downtime. Systems that enable and support key business processes, but whose temporary unavailability does not cause immediate disruption to core functions. Systems used for non-essential functions, and that do not affect large number of students. Failures have minimal impact on operations, and while undesirable, can be tolerated.  Systems with no formal support from IT Services. These systems are not covered by service level agreements (SLAs), and availability or maintenance is not guaranteed.
