IT Services in partnership with Schneider Electric, and Total Power Solutions win Data Centre Consolidation/Upgrade project of the year

IT Services, together with Schneider Electric and Total Power Solutions, designed and delivered a new, high efficiency cooling system and EcoStruxure Row Data Center solution as part of a new data centre consolidation and modernisation project. The project was named Data Centre Consolidation/Upgrade project of the year at the recent Data Centre Solutions awards in London.

The project, which ran from April 2020 through until December 2021 was primarily to facilitate enabling works for the new Centre for Future Learning, moving the cooling system to the roof of the Daedalus building, freeing up space previously used for external cooling equipment and power plant equipment.

The opportunity was taken to redesign the cooling system to enhance space efficiency, resilience, and scalability, and reduce the data centre PUE, which supports UCDs commitment to environmental sustainability, reduces energy consumption, lowers costs, and minimising our environmental footprint
