As part of an H2020 research project commencing in late 2018, applications are invited for a PhD position in the area of advanced digital manufacturing technologies for human-robot collaborative processes.Our objective is to develop and integrate novel software tools with state-of-the-art digital manufacturing platforms, aiming at facilitating the faster and more accurate design and validation of manufacturing processes where human operators and robots are expected to work together. The major goals of the proposed approach are to:
1. accurately model human-robot processes and their manufacturing environment by fully enabling their digital representation, considering all safety aspects,
2. develop simulation models and advanced algorithms that would allow the generation and evaluation of different human-robot process configuration alternatives,
3. utilize AI and machine learning technologies for developing autonomous learning strategies for adjusting robot behavior to human needs.
Applications are sought from excellent candidates with a background in robotics, mechatronics, advanced CAD / CAM and PLC systems for a position commencing in 2018. The position will involve significant interaction with industrial partners from Ireland and Europe.
