Hamilton Prize 2014 (29/10/2014)
UCD student Shane Walsh was presented with his Hamilton Prize by Fields medallist Cedric Villani on 16th October 2014 at the Royal Irish Academy.
Each year the Royal Irish Academy presents awards to Mathematics students in ten of the Higher Education Institutions in Ireland. This event forms part of Hamilton Day activities at the RIA which celebrate Sir William Rowan Hamilton’s life and contribution to mathematics.
Each mathematics department (TCD, UCD, UCC, NUIG, NUIM, UL, DIT, DCU, QUB, UU) nominate its best student in the penultimate year of undergraduate mathematical studies.
