Over 4,000 students graduate during UCD September conferrings

More than 4,100 students celebrated their academic achievements at University College Dublin during the September conferring ceremonies.

In total, 4,173 degrees, diplomas and certificates were awarded across the week-long series of conferrings at O’Reilly Hall.

These included 3,335 undergraduate degrees, 497 master’s degrees, 74 doctoral degrees, and 267 certificates and diplomas.

Among the colleges and schools that celebrated conferrings in September were UCD School of Agriculture and Food Science, UCD Sutherland School of Law, and UCD School of Architecture, Planning & Environmental Policy, and the UCD Colleges of Business, and of Arts and Humanities.

The global reach of UCD was also reflected in ceremonies across several of its international campuses, with awards presented to 309 students at Beijing-Dublin International College (BDIC), 345 at Chang’an-Dublin International College (CDIC) in Xi’an, and 148 at Guangzhou-Dublin International College (GDIC).

These students were conferred with their degrees at ceremonies at three joint colleges operated by UCD in China in partnership with Beijing University of Technology (BJUT), Chang’an University (CHD), and South China Agricultural University (SCAU).

UCD September International Conferrings 2025

Located on the BJUT campus, BDIC provides a world-class international educational experience focused on information, communications & technology (ICT) and finance & economics.

It offers the following degree programmes:

  • Bachelor of Electronic & Information Engineering
  • Bachelor of Internet of Things Engineering
  • Bachelor of Science Financial Economics
  • Bachelor of Science Software Engineering

The CDIC based at Chang’an University focuses on transportation engineering and related matters. It offers degrees in:

  • Bachelor of Engineering Automotive Engineering
  • Bachelor of Engineering Civil Engineering Infrastructure
  • Bachelor of Science Transport City Planning & Environmental Policy

While GDIC is dedicated to agriculture and food science environments, and particularly the discipline areas of biological sciences, food quality & safety, and horticulture.

The following degree programmes are offered at its institution at the SCAU campus:

  • Bachelor of Science Biological Sciences
  • Bachelor of Science Food Quality & Safety
  • Bachelor of Science Horticulture

All core modules taught on the degree programmes at the three joint international colleges UCD operates in China are delivered in English, with the majority provided by UCD lecturers.

All students at BDIC, CDIC and GDIC have the opportunity of short or long stay study periods in Dublin, as well as exposure to Irish cultural events organised at their respective campuses.

As part of the summer celebrations, UCD also conferred honorary degrees on five distinguished figures, Michael Berkery (Doctor of Science), Laura Burke (Doctor of Engineering), Kevin O’Malley (Doctor of Laws), Donal O’Donnell (Doctor of Laws), and Michael McGlynn (Doctor of Music).
