Working with the USM Team

The USM Team’s role can best be summarised as helping those who support students and staff to ensure the consistent delivery of high quality services. Our focus is on the entire service layer of the University, from the systems and tools involved in delivering services, to the approaches, methodologies and philosophies that underpin it. 

We work with a wide spectrum of colleagues from across the campus - School and College Offices, central support units, project teams, working groups etc. - providing a wide spectrum of supports.

When we talk about service delivery, it can help to view things from the perspective of what we refer to as the “three unifieds”.

Unified for the Individual: This is about making sure that no matter where you go and what your question is you can expect the same level of high-quality service. It’s also about making sure you don’t have to repeat your question multiple times or get bounced around between different offices and units.

Unified for the Team: Here we aim to empower teams to make the best use of the resources they have to the best effect. This includes giving team leads access to the information they need to best manage their teams. Teams can refer to your local office/unit, or indeed any group of people who come together with the common goal of delivering, supporting or designing services.

Unified for the University: Here we look at the bigger picture; the ongoing development and enhancement of services across the University. We use data and information generated about frontline services to inform this work. 

 

We also work closely with our colleagues in UCD Agile, to ensure alignment with their approaches, tools and methodologies.

  • New technology in service delivery workshops
  • Training for individuals and teams 
  • Faciliatation of workshops -

    To date the USM team has facilitated the following workshops on behalf of service providers within UCD. This allows providers to avail of the USMs expertise skills in designing, organisation, scheduling and leading workshops, capturing the outputs to be shared with the UCD Community. To date we have successfully customised a series workshops on behalf of the following areas: 

    • UCD Assessment - School Modular Examination Committees 
    • Extenuating Circumstances staff 
    • Student Placement Manager & Internship Managers and staff at the forefront for managing the process
